Welcome to the Cove!
Are you a member of the LGBT+ community in Northern Scotland? Whether you live near Inverness or are visiting the Highlands, the Selkie Cove is a welcoming place to meet folks who are like you. Come join us!
Where do you meet?
Right now we meet at the Caledonian Pub on the Inverness High Street, IV1 1HY. We meet every Thursday at 7pm. Find us on the first floor up via the lift or big staircase!
Is the group accessible?
We do our best to be accessible, as many of our members are disabled or otherwise have accessibility requirements. A lot of us are neurodivergent, too! Regarding accessibility in the Caledonian:
- There is step-free access into the building
- There is a lift right next to the area where we meet on the first floor
- There is a disabled toilet on the same floor, which requires a radar key to enter
- The first floor has plenty of seating
- It can get a bit noisy in the cove. You are welcome to bring ear defenders or ear plugs, take along stim toys, or step out to the beer garden on the same floor if you need a moment.
All that said, we want to be as widely accessible as we can be. You can always let us know if there's a requirement we haven't met yet!
Can we eat there? Are there people drinking alcohol?
The Caledonian serves food (including veggie and vegan options), and a lot of us will buy something to eat while we're there. In addition, the Caledonian meetup is not a sober space due to the nature of the venue, and some members do drink at Selkies. However, we have plans to introduce sober meetups at other venues as well.
Also note: There's no requirement to buy anything to attend the meetup.
